Taika Waititi's feature adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's dystopian novel, "Klara and the Sun," is slated for a theatrical release on October 23. The film stars Jenna Ortega as Klara, a solar-powered robot dedicated to assisting humans, and Amy Adams as the mother of a young girl.
The movie promises a hopeful narrative focusing on friendship and connection, particularly in an era where technology can lead to feelings of isolation. Ortega's character, Klara, questions the nature of human compatibility in the trailer, while Adams' character expresses skepticism about Klara's suitability.
Waititi co-wrote the script with Dahvi Waller. This project marks Waititi's return to directing after his 2023 film "Next Goal Wins." Production is led by Waititi alongside producers David Heyman, Jeffrey Clifford, Rosie Alison, and Garrett Basch.
