Kittur Channamma's Legacy Celebrated with Vibrant Utsav in Karnataka

On October 24th, 2025, the Channamma Kittur Utsav, a celebration held in memory of Kittur Channamma's fight against the British, commenced with great enthusiasm in Kittur, Karnataka. District minister Satish Jarkiholi welcomed the Vijaya Jyoti, a symbol of Channamma's victory, at the Channamma Circle and inaugurated the utsav by hoisting the flag of Kittur Sansthan.
Later, dignitaries, including Kittur MLA Babasaheb Patil, Belagavi North MLA Asif (Raju) Sait, and others, garlanded the statues of Kittur Channamma, Sangolli Rayanna, and Amatur Balappa. A colorful folk dance procession, showcasing the glory of the state's rich cultural heritage, was inaugurated by Laxmi Hebbalkar, the minister of women and child development.
Despite the rain, the vibrant parade, accompanied by still images of government projects and facilities, attracted the attention of the crowd. The exhibition hall, flower exhibition, and various stalls related to agriculture, health, and horticulture were also inaugurated as part of the utsav. Hundreds of people from Kittur and surrounding villages participated in the celebrations.
