14 May
Summary
- Volo Museum received a $50 fine for KITT speeding.
- The violation occurred on April 22nd in Brooklyn.
- The museum claims the car has not moved in years.

The Volo Museum in Illinois was recently mailed a $50 traffic fine by New York City, alleging a violation captured by a traffic camera on April 22nd. The citation claims their replica of KITT, the famous black Pontiac Trans Am from Knight Rider, was caught speeding at 9 mph over the limit in a 25 mph zone on Ocean Parkway in Brooklyn.
Museum officials published a copy of the citation, which showed images of the car with its customized 'KNIGHT' license plate. The city's system evidently linked the vehicle to the museum, despite the institution asserting that their KITT display has not been moved in years. Officials are seeking a hearing to dispute the citation, maintaining that the situation is inexplicable.
The museum acquired its KITT replica in 1991, built from original show production designs. This particular car was previously owned by George Barris, who designed the Batmobile and worked on Knight Rider. The vehicle was autographed by Barris, who considered it a masterpiece.
