Comedian and actor Kevin James recently detailed a particularly unpleasant experience from his early stand-up comedy career. During a recent podcast appearance, James recounted driving eight hours for a single gig that offered minimal pay, especially after travel expenses.
Upon arrival, James checked into a motel he described as "crappy." His plan to nap before his performance was cut short when he discovered a roach in the room. He chose to wait in his car until showtime and left the room immediately after his set.
Pest control experts suggest travelers take precautions when checking into accommodations. They recommend keeping belongings elevated and away from soft surfaces, and using the bathroom for luggage storage while inspecting the room for pests. If any pests like roaches or bedbugs are found, it is advised to notify the hotel front desk promptly so they can address the issue.
