According to Kevin Federline's new memoir, "You Thought You Knew," the former backup dancer was flooded with reality TV offers after appearing on Celebrity Fit Club in 2010. Federline claims he was approached for shows like Big Brother and Wife Swap, and was even considered as a potential host for Dancing with the Stars when the program first launched. However, he turned down these opportunities, stating he "couldn't see the appeal" of the reality dance competition and "couldn't have guessed how massive it would become."
Federline further alleges he received multiple offers for lucrative tell-all interviews, with "six-figure deals" on the table. But he chose to decline these offers in order to protect the people closest to him, including his ex-wife Britney Spears. "We're talking six-figure deals that I was turning down for the sake of Britney and my family," he claims in the book. Federline says the experience of reality TV "opened his eyes to how manipulative the medium could be," and he ultimately prioritized his family's well-being over chasing fame.
Despite his stint on the short-lived reality series Excess Baggage in 2012, Federline has largely avoided the spotlight in the years since his high-profile marriage to Spears. Now, as his children have grown older, he feels the time is right to share his side of the story and provide a "well-rounded perspective" on his life.
