Kevin Costner's passion project, 'Horizon: An American Saga,' is facing a turbulent future, with Chapter 2 reportedly stuck in limbo. Despite the actor's deep personal investment of USD 38 million, fresh reports indicate that the sequel's release is not currently planned. This uncertainty follows the commercial underperformance of Chapter 1, which was released in June 2024. The original plan for Chapter 2’s release on August 16, 2024, was abruptly shelved by Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema.

The studio initially cited a need for audiences to engage more with Chapter 1. However, escalating legal disputes, including accusations of unpaid costume rentals and a sexual harassment claim against Costner, have further complicated the situation. While 'Horizon: Chapter 1' has since received positive reviews on its streaming release, 'Horizon: Chapter 2,' despite premiering at festivals in fall 2024, lacks an official release date, with insider reports suggesting a 2026 release is unlikely.

Costner remains publicly committed to completing the four-part saga, even stating intentions to film 'Horizon 3' and '4.' He is actively seeking new investors to finance the remaining films, with a portion of Chapter 3 reportedly already filmed. Despite financial hurdles and a slow production pace, both Costner and fans express hope for a future release of the second installment.
