A new comedy pilot, tentatively titled "Whisper Sisters," is set to begin production in Louisville, Kentucky, this summer. The series aims to highlight the often-overlooked contributions of women to Kentucky's bourbon and moonshine industry during Prohibition.
The story centers on two estranged sisters, Alexis and Erin Whisper. Alexis, a Brooklyn-based coastal elite, returns to her Kentucky roots for her father's funeral, where she reunites with her sister Erin, a single mother who never left. The contrasting sisters are compelled to collaborate to preserve their family's clandestine moonshine operation.
"Whisper Sisters" seeks to mine comedy from the ideological differences and familial loyalties of the characters. The pilot is written and created by Corey Roederer, with Ryan Cunningham directing. The project is independently financed, with plans to develop it into a full series later this year.
