Ikumi Nakamura's 'Kemuri': Yokai Hunter Action Game Revealed

Ikumi Nakamura, known for her work on titles like Okami and Bayonetta, has unveiled the first project from her indie studio, Unseen. The action game, titled Kemuri, places players in the role of a yokai hunter within a vibrant, futuristic cyberpunk metropolis.

The gameplay trailer showcased dynamic combat featuring diverse fighting styles, including bow and arrow techniques and magic-infused martial arts. A unique mechanic allows players to channel the powers of defeated demons into fashionable attire, which in turn grants new abilities to face escalating challenges.

Traversal in Kemuri appears to be a significant element, with characters depicted running up skyscrapers and utilizing city infrastructure. The game will support both solo play and multiplayer experiences for up to three individuals. Kemuri is currently in development, with more updates expected from Unseen leading up to its projected launch in 2027.
