In a recent interview, Kelsey Grammer's 33-year-old daughter Greer is pushing back against accusations that she's a "nepo baby" - an entertainment industry term for someone who has benefited from their famous family connections. Greer, who has carved out her own acting career with roles in shows like MTV's Awkward, The Goldbergs, and Netflix's Deadly Illusions, says the biggest misconception about her is that she didn't know her father until she was 16 years old.
Greer explains that her parents, Kelsey Grammer and stylist Barrie Buckner, split shortly after her birth in 1992. Kelsey then left when Greer was just 4 years old, and they didn't reconnect until a chance encounter at a Christmas tree lot a decade later. Greer recalls running away when she briefly saw Kelsey at a Blockbuster store when she was 11.
Despite her famous father, Greer insists her acting resume has nothing to do with family ties. She's been working hard to build her own career in Hollywood, even competing in pageants as a teenager and winning the title of Miss Teen Malibu in 2008. Greer also appeared alongside Kelsey in the second season of his Frasier revival, playing the adult daughter of one of the show's characters.
Now 33, Greer says she's still unpacking the emotional fallout of her estrangement from Kelsey in therapy. But since their reunion when she was 16, the two have been spotted out together on numerous occasions, and Kelsey has continued expanding his own family, welcoming his eighth child this year with his fourth wife.
