The narrative centers on Jingoro, a legendary Edo era craftsman. Betrayed by those seeking to conceal secrets, Jingoro suffers immense loss, including his father figure and fiancée. Fueled by grief and a desire for vengeance, he crafts a new path using his exceptional carpentry skills and a series of advanced mechanical prosthetic arms.
Reeves expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating he is "thrilled by the vision behind 'Hidari.'" Director Kawamura added that having an actor of Reeves' caliber join the project is an "incredible feeling." The film is produced by Noriko Matsumoto, known for her work with dwarf studios and the popular Netflix series "Rilakkuma."
