Godzilla Actress Kaylee Hottle Dead at 19

Tragically, deaf actress Kaylee Hottle, celebrated for her role as Jia in the recent 'Godzilla' films, has died. She was only 19 years old. Her father, Joshua Hottle, shared the heartbreaking news via a social media live stream on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

Joshua Hottle explained that he had to travel to Maryland to claim his daughter's body. He learned Kaylee had been in a severe car collision. Following this initial shock, officials contacted him to report that her heart had ceased functioning while she was en route to the hospital.

Hottle, originally from Atlanta, Georgia, hailed from a family with multiple generations of deaf members. Her acting career began with commercials, including a public service announcement for the Glide app. She first appeared as Jia in the 2021 film 'Godzilla vs. Kong', where she played a teenager communicating with King Kong through sign language. She reprised this significant role in the 2024 release, 'Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire'.
