In Kaushambi, the Daranagar Ramlila is attracting significant attention as children aged 10 to 13 take on the principal roles from the Ramayan. These daytime performances are organized across 13 localities within the Kadha Dham area, inviting people from various communities to witness the annual spectacle. The event commenced with 'Mukut pujan' on October 11 and is scheduled to continue until October 23.
While younger children embody figures like Lord Ram, Goddess Sita, and their siblings, more experienced adults portray characters such as Hanuman and Angad. A key attraction is the historical Vijayadashmi 'Kuppi Yuddh,' a unique battle between Lord Ram's and Ravan's armies, set for October 20 and 21. This 'funnel war' involves 80 participants divided into two groups, fighting with plastic funnels on an expansive 3,600 sqm ground, with security arrangements in place.
Alongside the daytime Ramlila performances, priests conduct night-long pujas in the same locales, adding a spiritual dimension to the festivities.
