A vibrant Kathak showcase titled Nritya Naad unfolded at Kalka-Bindadin Deori in Lucknow, presented by the Rivayat Lucknow Gharana Dance and Music Academy. The performances that followed were a testament to the Lucknow Gharana's rich legacy. Pandit Rammohan Maharaj, alongside Ekta and Ankita Mishra, presented a divine 'Shiv Stuti'. The Mishra sisters then enthralled the audience with classic Kathak renditions in Teentaal and a piece set to the popular thumri 'Mohe chhedo na Nand'.
The showcase culminated with energetic presentations of traditional bandish, parans, and jugalbandis, set to fast rhythms. Supporting the performances were Guru Surabhi Singh for 'padhant', Mohammad Arif Khan on vocals and harmonium, Pandit Vikas Mishra on tabla, and guest artist Manish Mishra on sarangi. Manish Mishra also presented Raga Bhimpalasi on sarangi, followed by a devotional piece honoring Goddess Durga.
Younger students of the academy impressed with their 'Guru Vandana' and 'tukdas', while senior students demonstrated their mastery with 'Krishna Vandana' and intricate 'chakkar'. Several prominent figures in Kathak, including Pandit Rameshwar Prasad Mishra and Pandit Ram Mohan Maharaj, were honored during the event.
