Kartik Aaryan's Music Film Near Completion

Producer Bhushan Kumar has announced that Anurag Basu's untitled romantic musical, featuring Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela, is nearing completion. Contrary to earlier speculation about delays, Kumar confirmed in a recent conversation that the film is "more or less complete" and a release date is being sought. This statement provides an update on a project that has faced ongoing rumors regarding its timeline.

Kumar also revealed that his production house, T-Series, is commencing 'Captain India' with Kartik Aaryan and director Shimit Amin next month. This project is set to begin filming shortly after the confirmation of the musical's near-completion. These updates come amidst conflicting information, as director Anurag Basu himself had previously stated in April 2026 that the film was far from finished, with only 45 days of shooting completed.

The untitled musical was initially slated for a December 2025 release, with industry buzz suggesting potential clashes with Ranveer Singh's 'Dhurandhar' or alleged similarities to Mohit Suri's 'Saiyaara'. Basu dismissed these claims, emphasizing the distinct narratives and his prior knowledge of Suri's plot. He clarified that the only commonality was a rockstar protagonist's journey, and stated his film's female lead did not have dementia or Alzheimer's disease, unlike in 'Saiyaara'.

Further context reveals a history of 'Aashiqui 3' adaptations. Mohit Suri's 'Saiyaara' was initially planned as 'Aashiqui 3'. Simultaneously, T-Series and Vishesh Films intended their own 'Aashiqui 3' with Basu directing and Aaryan starring. However, this project faced legal hurdles over the 'Aashiqui' title rights, with the Delhi High Court ultimately ruling in favor of Mukesh Bhatt, preventing its use.
