Karrahbooo Escapes Label Limbo with New Mixtape

Atlanta rapper Karrahbooo has officially released her debut mixtape, "NOT DA 2," marking her exit from a prolonged period of label limbo. This release follows a public dispute that had effectively halted her music for two years, though claims of her music being withheld have been refuted by Lil Yachty. The mixtape is characterized by its collection of trap and plugg tracks, underpinned by sturdy beats and Karrahbooo's notably composed and detached demeanor.

Karrahbooo first gained significant attention following a notable appearance in a 2024 On the Radar crew cypher, where her commanding presence and sharp lyricism stood out. Her style is often described as distinct from contemporaries, evoking a sense of calculated observation rather than overt aggression. Early single "No Hook" exemplifies this ultra-nonchalant persona, detailing a night out with direct, advice-like disses.

The production on "NOT DA 2" leans towards more muscular trap sounds, curated by Truebeatzz. While some tracks echo familiar hits, others, like "Keep Up W Me" featuring Zukenee and "WYO" with Monaleo, offer more bespoke collaborations. The mixtape also includes "Patched It Up," a track that addresses the past drama with Lil Yachty, though it reads more as a mediation than a reconciliation.

Ultimately, "NOT DA 2" conveys an internal conflict within Karrahbooo: the desire to clarify past events versus the inclination to move forward. The mixtape's laid-back approach serves as a deliberate strategy to navigate her recent public beef. While "No Hook" highlights her unique charisma and sense of place, the project overall functions as a musical mediation, signaling a deliberate shift towards establishing her own narrative.
