Actress's Surprise Comeback After Career Break

Karolina Wydra experienced a significant career shift when her decision to start a family led to her manager and agent dropping her. Despite this, she made a remarkable comeback with a breakout performance as Zosia in the series 'Pluribus', earning an Emmy nomination.

This role marked her return to acting after a break that began in 2019. Wydra's performance has been lauded, particularly her ability to humanize a character that could easily be perceived as villainous. She often explores the complexities of her characters, understanding their motivations even when they are manipulative.

Wydra's favorite scene, referred to as the 'mango scene,' occurs after a pivotal kiss with co-star Rhea Seehorn's character, Carol. This intimate moment reveals Zosia's past and vulnerability, showcasing her personal growth beyond the collective she represents and deepening her connection with Carol.

Working with co-star Rhea Seehorn was a highlight for Wydra, who described Seehorn as incredibly supportive and instrumental in her comfort on set. Their strong chemistry and shared work ethic were crucial in developing their characters' complex relationship, including the carefully rehearsed kiss scene.

Wydra also shared her experience working with Vince Gilligan, admitting to initial terror due to his meticulous directing style. She noted that Gilligan's tendency to do many takes, while initially frightening, was ultimately aimed at exploring deeper layers of the scenes and characters.
