Actress Karine Vanasse is set to lead the cast of "Death of a Diplomat," a new thriller series. Vanasse will portray Jane Shearer, the wife of a Canadian ambassador, who takes on the investigation of a poisoning incident at a remote Icelandic event. The six-part drama promises a delve into secrets and corruption.
The series is an adaptation of Eliza Reid's bestselling novel, initially titled "Death on the Island." This novel, the first in a planned series, has achieved significant success in both Canada and the UK. The adaptation is slated for presentation at the Series Mania Co-Pro Pitching Sessions.
"Death of a Diplomat" has secured distribution deals with Canadian streamer Crave and Iceland's Síminn for their respective markets. Blink49 Studios and Truenorth are producing the series, with Groupe Entourage also joining as executive producers. The series aims to explore a complex web of intrigue.
Lynne Kamm has adapted the novel for television and will serve as showrunner. The story unfolds as Shearer teams up with a young detective, exposing a conspiracy that reaches from Reykjavik's elite to within her own marriage. The series is expected to captivate international audiences.
