Despite facing a career-altering car accident in 1961 that resulted in the loss of vision in one eye, Pataudi continued to excel in international cricket, becoming an inspiration.
Pataudi, who married veteran actress Sharmila Tagore in 1969, passed away on September 22, 2011.
