This break comes shortly after his production, 'Homebound,' directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, was notably absent from the final nominations for the Best International Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards.

Despite 'Homebound' being a strong contender and previously making the top-15 shortlist, it did not advance to the final five nominees. Johar previously expressed immense pride in the film and its director, highlighting its significance for Indian cinema.
