Summary
- Buccal fat removal in 2021 caused chronic pain for years.
- Scar tissue blocked saliva, causing swelling and discomfort.
- Corrective surgery has significantly improved his condition.

Karamo Brown has publicly shared his journey through chronic pain following a plastic surgery procedure. In 2021, he underwent buccal fat removal, which unfortunately led to a year and a half of severe pain due to scar tissue buildup and blocked saliva drainage.
This condition caused visible swelling in his cheeks and dryness in his mouth, impacting his ability to film his daytime talk show and 'Queer Eye.' He also lost 70 pounds during this period, finding that weight loss lessened the scar tissue's visibility and discomfort.
Recently, Brown underwent a corrective procedure with Dr. Carl Truesdale to address the salivary gland issues and scar tissue. He also had a lower blepharoplasty to reduce under-eye bags. He expressed immense gratitude for the corrective surgery, stating he feels much better and is no longer experiencing the debilitating pain.
Brown chose not to pursue legal action against the original surgeon, as he was advised it would be unproductive. He is now sharing his story to encourage others suffering in silence to speak up about similar experiences.
