Malayalam Cinema's First Musical Horror Comedy Arrives

Malayalam cinema is set to witness a unique blend of genres with the upcoming release of Karakkam on April 23, 2026. This film is distinguished as the industry's first musical horror comedy, promising an unconventional cinematic experience.

Directed by Subhash Lalitha Subrahmanian, known for Charles Enterprises, Karakkam features an ensemble cast including Sreenath Bhasi and Femina George. The plot follows two young men whose drunken antics on New Year's Eve lead them to disturb five brass crosses in a cemetery.

This act of recklessness results in them being haunted by five spirits. The film navigates their subsequent chaotic and humorous attempts to undo the supernatural curse they've unleashed. It aims to seamlessly merge horror, comedy, and musical elements.

Karakkam's innovative approach integrates musical sequences as a vital storytelling component, enhancing both emotional depth and comedic timing. The film is poised to offer a distinctive narrative style, diverging from conventional genre tropes and captivating audiences with its quirky concept and unpredictability.
