Kanye's Donda: Barely Finished, Heavily Burdened

Kanye West's tenth studio album, Donda, named in honor of his late mother, Dr. Donda C. West, has been released. The project emerged following three public listening events held in major stadiums across the country.

Thousands attended these events in person, with millions more tuning in online. The performances featured songs touching on themes of God, family, and divorce. Kanye West himself was present, engaging in activities like push-ups, alongside guest appearances from artists like DaBaby and Marilyn Manson.

Upon its release to streaming services, Donda was noted for being barely finished and carrying considerable baggage. Its extensive runtime includes moments of elation but is characterized by a lack of cohesive structure, presenting as a collection of songs searching for a greater purpose.

While Christianity has been a recurring element in West's music, it now appears to be a central driving force behind his creativity. This theme is evident in Donda, following his establishment of the Sunday Service Choir and his declaration to cease using explicit language in his music.
