1 Sep
Summary
- Former staffer seeks to block Kanye's unsound mind defense.
- Staffer claims Kanye denied mental health issues in deposition.
- Trial for wrongful termination suit is scheduled for October.

A legal battle is intensifying as a former employee seeks to prevent Kanye West from using an "unsound mind" defense. Benjamin Provo, who was employed at Donda Academy in 2021, is urging a judge to block this claim, arguing it's a late attempt before the trial. Provo asserts that West has not presented any supporting documents or testimony for this defense.
According to court filings, Provo highlighted deposition exchanges where West seemingly contradicted a mental health defense. West reportedly indicated he was "close to being himself" during the period relevant to the case. The former staffer's lawsuit claims wrongful termination due to his hairstyle, alleging discriminatory treatment of Black employees.
The trial for Benjamin Provo's lawsuit is slated for October. Separately, West is also seeking to exclude evidence of his social media posts referencing Nazism and Hitler from court proceedings.
