Kanye West Apology: Genuine Remorse or Album PR?

Kanye West is addressing skepticism surrounding his recent public apology, which some speculated was a "PR move" before his upcoming album "Bully." West published a full-page apology letter to "those I've hurt," following a series of antisemitic remarks and actions that led to significant backlash and loss of commercial partnerships.

In a recent interview, West stated his apology was not intended for publicity or commercial gain, emphasizing his genuine remorse. He acknowledged the weight of his words and actions, particularly their impact on the Jewish and Black communities. West explained that his regret surfaced after a four-month manic episode concluded in early 2026.

During this episode, West made inflammatory social media posts and released controversial merchandise and songs. He revealed that a change in his medication led to a depressive episode. His wife, Bianca Censori, encouraged him to seek treatment at a rehabilitation facility in Switzerland.

West discussed the challenges of finding the right antipsychotic dosage, noting a hypersensitivity within the African American community. He expressed a desire to find a balance to continue on a positive course. However, West declined to answer questions regarding the origins of his antisemitic sentiments and personal amends.

His latest album, "Bully," is scheduled for release on Friday.
