Rishab Shetty's 'Kantara Chapter 1', the prequel to the 2022 blockbuster 'Kantara', is set to hit theaters on October 2, 2025. In a record-breaking deal, the post-theatrical streaming rights have been acquired by Amazon Prime Video for a whopping ₹125 crore.
According to reports, this is among the highest ever for a Kannada film, second only to 'KGF 2'. The platform has secured rights for all languages, promising a pan-India OTT release. Interestingly, 'Kantara Chapter 1' will be available on Amazon Prime Video from October 30, just four weeks after its theatrical debut.
The prequel is set several centuries in the past during the Kadamba reign and explores a man-versus-nature conflict. The central story revolves around the clash between tribals in Kantara and the King. The second part of the franchise will have more focus on the origins of divine land guardianship.
