'Kantara: Chapter 1' Becomes Highest-Grossing Film Worldwide in Opening Week

According to the latest reports, the Indian film 'Kantara: Chapter 1' has become the world's highest-grossing movie this week, surpassing the earnings of major Hollywood releases. The film, written and directed by Rishab Shetty, has achieved remarkable box office success, with its global collections estimated to reach around $53 million (Rs 470 crore) in its opening week.

Within the first seven days, 'Kantara: Chapter 1' earned $42 million (Rs 379 crore) in India alone, and projections suggest this could rise to $45 million (over 400 crore) by the end of the first extended week. Additionally, the film has generated an estimated $8 million (Rs 70 crore) from overseas markets, contributing to its impressive worldwide gross.

By achieving these numbers, 'Kantara: Chapter 1' has surpassed the earnings of Taylor Swift's 'The Official Release Party of a Showgirl', which collected $50 million (Rs 440 crore) over its opening weekend. It has also outpaced the Leonardo DiCaprio-starrer 'One Battle After Another', which had global box office figures estimated at $40 million (Rs 350 crore) in its second week.

The film's success extends beyond its original Kannada language, with the Hindi version surpassing Rs 100 crore net domestically and the Kannada version achieving the same milestone. The Telugu, Malayalam, and Tamil versions have also performed well, further contributing to the film's overall success.
