- Wishes he could redo all his past roles
- Considers Sagar Sangamam and Nayakan his most satisfying performances

Legendary Indian actor Kamal Haasan celebrated his 71st birthday on November 7th, 2025. In a throwback interview from 2001, Haasan opened up about his acting journey, expressing a desire to redo many of his past roles.
Haasan admitted that he is more conscious of his mistakes than his achievements, stating, "Given a chance, I'd love to do all my roles all over again." However, he acknowledged that it would be a tedious process for both him and his audience. The actor found particular satisfaction in his performances in films like Sagar Sangamam and Nayakan, where the scripts and his characters were well-crafted.
Haasan also discussed his work in the 2000 film Hey Ram, which he felt had more depth than was immediately apparent. He compared his performance in the film to "the mysterious smile of a lizard" that only those familiar with the character could understand.
Despite his legendary status, Haasan does not see himself as a role model for younger actors. He believes that while they may emulate his techniques and mannerisms, he has also learned from senior actors. Haasan remains open to Hindi film offers, as long as the scripts are well-developed, and he continues to approach his craft with a critical eye, always striving to improve his performances.
