Kalshi Accuses Netflix of Fabricating Trailer Content
24 Jul
Summary
- Kalshi claims Netflix used an AI-generated trade slip in its trailer.
- The platform states the trailer falsely depicts trading in Nevada.
- Kalshi demands Netflix remove the trailer and retract false statements.

Kalshi, a prediction market platform, has sent a cease and desist letter to Netflix concerning the trailer for the upcoming documentary "Instadocs: The Prediction Games." The letter, sent on July 19, 2026, alleges that Netflix used fabricated documents and made misleading statements in the trailer. Kalshi claims a trade slip featured in the trailer is either photoshopped or AI-generated and does not resemble their platform's interface.
The platform also disputes the trailer's depiction of its subjects trading in Nevada. Kalshi has been prohibited from trading sport event contracts in Nevada since May 4, 2026, due to a court order. The documentary's timestamp of July 19, the World Cup final day, suggests a violation of this order, which Kalshi denies.
Kalshi is requesting that Netflix remove the trailer from all its platforms and publish a statement retracting the allegedly false and defamatory content. Brandon Beckhardt, Kalshi's marketing lead, expressed disappointment, stating Netflix had the opportunity to create an interesting documentary but instead opted for a sensationalized film based on fiction. He noted that Netflix had previously agreed to pull the trailer but had not yet done so.
