Kalki Koechlin: Scared of Horror, Yet Drawn to Dark Roles

Kalki Koechlin finds herself consistently drawn to roles exploring dark and psychologically intense narratives. While she confesses to being genuinely scared by horror films as a viewer, her experience filming them is quite different. The technical nature of production prevents her from feeling the same eerie vibes during shooting.

To manage the mental impact of demanding roles, Koechlin has developed a personal ritual. Upon returning home, she actively seeks out lighthearted content like stand-up comedy or engages in spontaneous, fun dancing and exercise. This helps her to effectively detach from the heavy emotions and intensity of her characters.

Interestingly, the sets of her recent paranormal thriller, 'Bhay: The Gaurav Tiwari Mystery,' were not without their genuinely unsettling moments. Koechlin recalled incidents such as flickering lights and a dramatic tree falling on an ambulance, which contributed to a palpable sense of unease during filming.
