Alisha Chinai: Kajra Re's Alaap Born in 10 Minutes

Singer Alisha Chinai recently shared intriguing details about her experience recording the hit song 'Kajra Re' for the 2005 film Bunty Aur Babli. During a conversation, she disclosed that the song's composers, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, and lyricist Gulzar were involved in its creation. Chinai was particularly impressed by Gulzar's spontaneous composition of the song's alaap, which he reportedly wrote in just 10 to 15 minutes. She recalled being called at the last minute to record the song from her home in Alibaug. Upon arrival at the studio, she found the composers, Gulzar, Rani Mukerji, and Abhishek Bachchan waiting. Chinai recorded the song, which she initially perceived as a qawwali-style track, in approximately two hours. She later returned to the studio to add another verse at the request of producer Aditya Chopra. Chinai also expressed her admiration for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's captivating appearance in the song's visuals, describing her as looking like a goddess.
