Summary
- Kajol reflects on DDLJ's enduring message of family love.
- She humorously advises Gen Z against her 90s fashion sense.
- Young people's independence differs greatly from DDLJ era.

Actress Kajol recently shared insights on how relationships and lifestyles have evolved since the 1990s, drawing parallels from her iconic film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ), which celebrated its 30th anniversary last year. She observed a significant shift in the attitudes of today's youth compared to the DDLJ era.
Kajol pointed out that young people today are less likely to ask for permission, contrasting it with the film's narrative. "I don't think anybody at the age of 18 or 19 is going up and telling their dad, 'Can I please go on this trip?' It's more like, 'Dad, I really have to go on this school trip, and you really have to pay for it,'" she explained.
Despite generational differences, Kajol stressed that the fundamental message of DDLJ—the importance of family and enduring love—continues to resonate. "Relationships and family matter at the end of the day, whatever we take from life," she stated, hoping this aspect remains a takeaway for audiences.
Adding a touch of humor, Kajol suggested that younger generations should not emulate her fashion sense from the film. "My dressing sense, at least, for sure," she quipped. Kajol's recent acting credits include the 2025 film Maa and the OTT release Sarzameen, also from 2025. She also co-hosted a talk show with Twinkle Khanna.
