Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith is set to release her new album, 'Ruin: It's Not Just Music,' on October 3. This highly anticipated record will be distributed through Someone Special, a new label co-founded by Smith and James Daniel this year. The album's sonic landscape is characterized by confrontational elements, including heavier drums and breakbeats, reflecting Smith's intent to create 'sonic combat.'
Smith stated that 'Ruin' captures the moment of breaking and emergence, describing the music as designed for endurance rather than comfort. The new release follows her 2025 output, which included the electronic LP 'Gush' and the orchestral mini-album 'Thoughts on the Future.' Additionally, Smith is preparing for a concert at London Barbican with the London Contemporary Orchestra, celebrating the 10th anniversary of Ears.
