Oscar Winner Triet Announces English-Language Debut 'Fonda'

Acclaimed filmmaker Justine Triet, known for her Palme d'Or winning film 'Anatomy of a Fall,' is preparing her next feature, 'Fonda.' This project marks Triet's full English-language debut.

The ensemble cast for 'Fonda' is led by Mia Goth, who impressed Triet enough to be offered the leading role after initially being considered for a supporting part. Andrew Scott, Ed Westwick, and Frank Dillane are also confirmed for the cast. Oscar winner Allison Janney is reportedly in discussions for a significant role.

'Fonda' is described as a psychological thriller set within a confined location, exploring the boundaries of a sound mind amidst grief and obsession. The film reunites Triet with her 'Anatomy of a Fall' producers, Marie-Ange Luciani and David Thion, and sales will be handled by mk2 Films. Studiocanal is a key financing and co-producing partner, securing distribution rights for several territories including France, Germany, Italy, Australia, and New Zealand.

Production for 'Fonda' is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2026. The film is expected to be a major draw at the upcoming European Film Market. mk2 Films anticipates 'Fonda' will deliver another significant cinematic experience, potentially becoming an awards contender and box office success, similar to the critical and commercial achievements of 'Anatomy of a Fall.'
