Justine Skye has embraced a more upbeat, dance-focused sound with her new single, "WYWD," a collaboration with producer and DJ Carlita. The song, released on October 16, serves as a preview of Carlita's forthcoming sophomore album, 'Telepathy.' The full album is slated for release on November 6 and will include guest appearances from artists such as SOFI TUKKER, Paige Cavell, Stevie Appleton, and Malive.
Carlita, a Turkish-Italian artist, has guided Skye's recent musical explorations, which move from her earlier R&B work towards club-rooted dance music. This evolution follows Skye's own dance-pop project, CANDY, and builds upon her career that began with her 2014 breakout hit "Collide." The title 'Telepathy' reflects Carlita's concept of desiring something without possessiveness, leading to its eventual arrival, a theme woven into the album's sleek grooves.
Upcoming live performances for Carlita include dates in Brooklyn on October 30, Mexico City on October 31, and Club Space Miami on November 14.
