Local teens pilot hit Broadway musical '& Juliet'

Summer Shakespeare Theatre is celebrating its 25th anniversary by piloting the high school edition of the hit Broadway musical '& Juliet.' This program, part of the Fox Valley Summer School Consortium, is one of only three schools in the nation chosen by Music Theatre International for this pilot.
The musical, featuring music by Max Martin and a book by David West Read, has a successful history, originating in London's West End and receiving 9 Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical, on Broadway in 2022. Performances are scheduled for July 23, 24, 25, and 26, followed by another run from July 30 to August 2 at Appleton North High School. Reserved seats are available for $15.
Director Ron Parker highlighted the significance of this pilot production, calling it an "incredible way to commemorate the silver anniversary." He also emphasized the collaborative spirit among students from various schools, noting the "unbreakable community" being built during rehearsals.
