Julia Roberts is set to make her highly anticipated return to Broadway after a two-decade absence. She will star in Bess Wohl's acclaimed play, "Small Mouth Sounds," a comedy about six individuals at a silent retreat. The production is notable for featuring very little dialogue, with much of the narrative conveyed through movement and facial expressions.
Roberts will be performing alongside a cast that includes Martin Freeman, Greta Lee, Sarah Paulson, Isaac Powell, and Paul Rudd. This marks a reunion for Roberts with director Joe Mantello and actor Paul Rudd, both of whom she previously collaborated with on Broadway. The play originally premiered Off-Broadway in 2015.
"Small Mouth Sounds" will begin previews on February 10, 2027, at Broadway's Ethel Barrymore Theatre, with its official opening scheduled for March 11, 2027. Tickets for the general public are slated to go on sale on Sunday, October 25, at 10 a.m. ET.
