Actress Julia Garner has expressed her enduring hope that a planned biopic about Madonna's life will eventually be produced. The project, which saw Garner cast as the pop superstar, was recently confirmed as scrapped by Madonna herself due to various factors, including budget constraints. Garner shared in an interview on September 8 that she believes the film "has to be made," hinting at a desire for its eventual revival.
Garner also reflected on her time working alongside Madonna on season 2 of 'The Studio.' She described the experience of filming in Venice with the singer as incredible and highlighted Madonna's surprising sense of humor. "She's one of the funniest people I've ever met," Garner stated. The actress also mentioned her continuous work schedule since January, expressing gratitude and a drive to push her career further.
The Madonna biopic had been in development since 2023, with initial reports suggesting a film and later a series. However, Madonna revealed in June that the extensive pre-production, including script development with writers like Diablo Cody and Erin Cressida Wilson, and Universal Studios' involvement in budgeting and casting, could not overcome the substantial budget required for her life story.
