Josh Allen, quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, has officially launched Out of Pocket Studios, a functioning media company backed by Skydance Sports. Allen is serving as CEO and executive producer for the studio's projects.
Out of Pocket Studios has already debuted its first slate of content. This includes a Labor Day special, "America's Tailgate," which aired on CBS, and "NFL Play Action," a weekly studio show now available on Paramount+. Additionally, the studio produced "The Buffalo Miracle," a documentary from director Ben Proudfoot, detailing a McDonald's manager's efforts during a 2022 blizzard.
Lindsey Cohen leads daily operations as president of strategy and operations, bringing experience from Meadowlark Media and DAZN. Allen initially signed an overall deal with Skydance Sports in January 2025 to develop scripted, unscripted, and branded content. Unlike many athletes who start media ventures post-retirement, Allen, currently ranked No. 2 on the NFL's Top 100 list, is building this company during his active playing career.
This strategic move allows Allen to leverage his current name recognition and fanbase. By establishing Out of Pocket Studios now, he is creating an entertainment entity that could become well-established before he retires from football, potentially offering him more leverage than athletes who build businesses later.
