Bailey, 37, recalled that he sent in a "crazy tape" for his first audition, which he described as a "karaoke version" of the song "Dancing Through Life."
The actor revealed that he recorded the audition tape just minutes before stepping on stage for a separate performance in London's West End. Bailey's Wicked costars, including Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, and Michelle Yeoh, were impressed by his last-minute preparation, with Erivo asking, "How on Earth did you even have the [time]?" Bailey responded, "It's such a -- it's like, you sort of go, it's now. Let's play it. Let's just do it."
Despite the rushed circumstances, Bailey's audition tape was successful, and he landed the role of Fiyero in the highly anticipated Wicked movie, which is set to be released in two parts, with the first part arriving in theaters on November 21.
