Summary
- HBO is exploring a Jon Snow sequel series revival.
- The project is in very early development with a new writer.
- Story may shift to Essos and include Arya Stark.

HBO is reportedly revisiting the idea of a Jon Snow-centric sequel to 'Game of Thrones,' signaling a potential revival of the shelved project. The network is in the initial stages of development, with writer Quoc Dang Tran attached to the series. This move follows previous confirmations from George R.R. Martin and Kit Harington about the concept, which had been put on hold.
Sources suggest the new direction might relocate the story from the North to the Essos region, offering a fresh perspective. Additionally, Jon Snow's cousin, Arya Stark, is rumored to be a potential addition to the narrative. This renewed interest comes after Harington confirmed in April 2024 that the initial sequel concept, which he described as a 'broken Jon Snow' dealing with PTSD, was deemed "too much of a bummer" by HBO and ultimately set aside.
While Harington was instrumental in bringing the sequel idea forward, his current stance on reprising the role remains uncertain. He recently expressed a desire to move on from the character, stating he did not want to "go anywhere near it" again. The network, Martin, and Tran have not yet commented on the developing project, leaving the future of Jon Snow's story in a state of anticipation.
