Jolie-Pitt Custody Ends as Twins Turn 18
14 Jul
Summary
- Youngest twins, Knox and Vivienne, turned 18 on July 12.
- Legal custody agreement officially concluded for Jolie and Pitt.
- Two older children are pursuing legal name changes from Pitt.

The long-running custody chapter for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt has formally concluded following the 18th birthday of their youngest children. Twins Knox Léon and Vivienne Marcheline reached legal adulthood on July 12, signaling the end of the custody arrangement that began when Jolie filed for divorce in 2016. This development comes nearly a decade after their initial separation.
While the divorce was finalized in December 2024, custody disputes continued due to the twins remaining minors. Now that Knox and Vivienne are legal adults, the court-ordered custody stipulations no longer apply. The couple shares six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne.
In parallel legal actions, Zahara and Maddox have taken steps to legally change their names. They have published notices in California, requesting to drop 'Pitt' from their surnames. Zahara seeks to be known as Zahara Marley Jolie, and Maddox as Maddox Chivan Jolie. Their respective court hearings are scheduled for September 14 and September 28. Shiloh legally adopted the name Shiloh Jolie after her 18th birthday in 2024, and Vivienne was credited as Vivienne Jolie for a Broadway musical production.
