Filmmaker Joko Anwar is set to debut his horror-comedy, "Ghost in the Cell," at the Berlin Film Festival's Forum section. The film is set within an Indonesian correctional facility, where a mysterious new prisoner and a supernatural entity test the survival instincts of inmates.

Anwar stated the film uses its supernatural premise to highlight the critical issue of massive deforestation in Indonesia and the societal neglect of its consequences. The ghost serves as a potent symbol of unresolved environmental destruction.
This collaboration between Come and See Pictures, Rapi Films, South Korea's Barunson E&A, and Legacy Pictures is slated for an Indonesian theatrical release in the second quarter of 2026. Barunson E&A is managing worldwide sales.
