The Johnstown Symphony Orchestra (JSO) is set to launch its 2026-27 season, themed "Symphonic Visions." This 98th season is inspired by the orchestra's approaching 100th anniversary, featuring music with visual elements and forward-looking themes.
The season begins on October 17 with "Halloween @ the Symphony" at the Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center (PPAC), presenting music from "Harry Potter" alongside classical pieces. This will be followed by "Honoring our Veterans" on November 14, a tribute featuring high school choruses and music by John Williams and Ludwig van Beethoven.
Holiday festivities arrive with "Holiday Pops!" on December 12, showcasing the Johnstown Symphony Chorus and Inclined to Sing. The PPAC will host "Date Night @ the Symphony" on February 13, blending cinematic love themes with sports anthems in honor of Valentine's Day and the Super Bowl.
The "Symphony in Color" concert on April 24 will feature works like Debussy's "La Mer" and the premiere of Stacy Garrop's "Chroma." The season concludes with "A Music Gallery" on May 15, an exclusive performance for full-season subscribers featuring a curated selection of classical composers.
