Bananas Defies Age, Dominates New Challenge Rivals

Johnny 'Bananas' Devenanzio, a seven-time champion, continues to compete on The Challenge despite admitting to hesitation each season. The 44-year-old acknowledges a sense of mortality and fear that wasn't present in his younger years. He recently demonstrated his continued prowess by decisively winning an elimination challenge against 23-year-old Cedric Hodges in the season opener.

Devenanzio described his relationship with the show as 'love-hate,' citing incredible life experiences alongside the demanding nature of the competition. He noted that while the competition has become fiercer and more athletic with younger players, he remains mentally sharp, aiming to prove he can still physically compete and win.

He also touched upon team dynamics, including a perceived slight from long-time rival CT Tamburello, who he felt did not honor a pact to work together. Devenanzio highlighted the importance of experience in the game and expressed surprise at the strong performance of rookie Deb Chubb in her own elimination.
