Travolta wore a beret for the premiere of his film and the French thriller "Karma." He shared with CNN on May 18 that the beret was inspired by the classic attire of esteemed film directors. "I'm a director this time. You're an actor, play the part of a director. Look like an old school director," he stated.
He further elaborated that he sought inspiration from historical filmmakers to embody the role of a director. Travolta sported three different berets throughout the festival: ivory, navy, and black. He also received a surprise Honorary Palme d'Or award at the event.
