Rock and roll musician John Oates has officially sold his cherished Little Woody Creek Ranch near Aspen, Colorado. The property, which he and his wife Aimee purchased in 1994, was acquired for $6.9 million in July 2026, concluding nearly three decades of ownership. Oates described Woody Creek as a 'bohemian suburb of Aspen,' fostering a community of artists and creative individuals, similar to his former life in Greenwich Village.
The 4.3-acre ranch, originally raw land with dilapidated cabins, was meticulously developed into a five-bedroom log home, referred to as a 'gentleman's ranch.' It features spacious interiors, a fireplace, and amenities like a separate caretaker unit and a game room showcasing Oates' music accolades. The property also includes equestrian facilities and ample water resources.
The Oates family initially listed the ranch in 2017 for $6 million, as they were spending more time at their Nashville home. After a period off the market, it was relisted in June 2026 at $7.5 million. The sale to a new buyer closed in July 2026, bringing an end to the Oates family's long-standing connection to their Colorado mountain refuge.
