Lithgow Defends Harry Potter Role Amidst Controversy

Actor John Lithgow has spoken out about his decision to take on a role in the upcoming Harry Potter television series, acknowledging the controversy surrounding author J.K. Rowling's views. Lithgow described Rowling's expressed opinions as "inexplicable" given the widely embraced themes of acceptance, kindness, and empathy present in the Harry Potter canon.

Lithgow emphasized his serious approach to the subject matter and stated that Rowling is not involved in the current television production. He expressed admiration for the team adapting the beloved stories into an eight-year series, noting his desire to collaborate with them. Despite facing criticism and discomfort due to the controversy, Lithgow chose to proceed with the role.
