A significant concert film, "Power to the People: John & Yoko/Plastic Ono Band With Elephant's Memory and Special Guests - Live at the One to One Concert, New York City, 1972," is set to premiere in cinemas on April 29 and May 3. This cinematic event showcases John Lennon's legendary 1972 Madison Square Garden performance.
The film has been meticulously restored, re-edited, and remixed by Sean Ono Lennon, the son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. He described the concert as having a legendary status, being his father's last full concert performance. Sean Ono Lennon expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work on the project, highlighting his father's intention to tour again.
Sean Ono Lennon noted that his father aimed for a raw, spontaneous, and back-to-basics approach, contrasting with the slicker productions of the early Seventies. The new version, directed by Simon Hilton, promises a "multiscreen concert film" experience with some venues offering Dolby Atmos or 5.1 Surround Sound. This release follows a box set compilation of the concerts released last year, which notably omitted the song "Woman is the N***** of the World."
