Bestselling author John Grisham is finding literary inspiration in Paris, a city he and his wife, Renee, have fallen in love with over many visits. These experiences have inspired the setting for his upcoming novel, "The French Illusion," slated for publication this fall. Grisham shared that his initial trip to Paris occurred after the immense success of his 1991 thriller, "The Firm."

The success of "The Firm" was a turning point for Grisham, leading to its translation into 30 languages. He and Renee explored Paris, visiting the haunts of literary giants like Hemingway and Fitzgerald, solidifying their affection for the city. Back in his writing process, Grisham credits his wife with significant creative input.

Grisham has often spoken of his wife Renee's crucial role in his writing. He revealed that she once suggested a significant change to a novel's ending, leading him to add over 25,000 words and rewrite the conclusion. He values her input, stating he "can't argue with all of them, especially Renee," and is pleased with the resulting narrative.
