Summary
- John Cusack was not contacted about the High Fidelity TV series.
- He starred in and co-wrote the original 2000 film adaptation.
- The series featured Zoë Kravitz in the lead role.

John Cusack, who co-wrote and starred in the 2000 film "High Fidelity," stated he was not involved in or consulted for the television adaptation. The actor explained in a podcast appearance that he did not watch the Zoë Kravitz-led Hulu series because "nobody asked me about it." This lack of contact led him to believe it was "cool" not to engage with the project.
The original "High Fidelity" film, based on Nick Hornby's 1995 novel, featured Cusack as Rob, a heartbroken record store owner reflecting on past relationships. The movie also starred Lisa Bonet, who Cusack noted he had previously worked with. The Hulu series, which reimagined the story with a gender-swapped lead played by Kravitz, premiered on Valentine's Day.
Despite positive reception, Hulu canceled the "High Fidelity" series after its first season in August 2020. Zoë Kravitz has expressed disappointment over the cancellation and hopes for a future revival. She also recently criticized Hulu for a social media post that referenced her character in relation to her fiancé's album.
